StarStarStarStarStar Looks great, no break in

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

I get saddle sore pretty easy, and this saddle is quite comfortable considering its a skinny. I haven't owned a ton of seats, but I have had a gel one, and a foam one, and this is heaps better as far as comfort goes.

Also it looks great.

Cons

Kind if pricey

Other Thoughts

I would definitely buy this over again if I had to.

StarStarStarStarStar Perfect

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Perfect. Saddles are personal, but I am have ridden long miles for 40+ years - now 61 - and now go longer, but slower miles and find this saddle ideal

StarStarStarStarStar Brooke Cambium Saddle

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

Comfort straight out of the Box
Water proof
Classic Styling with great performance

Cons

Very desirable - take it with you if locking your bike in a public place

Other Thoughts

fitted the Cambium to my touring bike for multiple days in the saddle. unlike the Brookes leather saddles (which are awesome) you don't have to match your Butt for that perfect fit over several hundred miles

StarStarStarStarStar Happy bum

Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: average

Awesome for long days in the saddle.

StarStarStarStarStar C 17

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

I am really enjoying riding without that pain in my ... rear. First long ride was 56 miles. Its not that I was noticing great comfort but I was not hurting any more so that makes it worth the money.

Cons

None really. May be a few ounces heavier than race type saddles . If I'm not hurting I'll be on the bike more and loose that weight from above the saddle.

Other Thoughts

Quality product.

StarStarStarStarStar Brooks Cambium Saddle

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Hey There. I bought this Brooks Cambium Saddle because of the short break in process. well, after three months it's still not as as comfy as i hoped it would be. I have never had a saddle that i can ride for more than 30 minutes... i know it's just me, and my stupid sit bones. I am seriously looking to buy folding tadpole recumbent trike from Trident Trikes. ModernBike does has the largest selection, and variety of parts. PricePoint, and Nashbar have really scaled back on the variety of parts in each catagory !!! Modernbike seems to have a sale every weekend, packageing was good, shipping was on time,Bye!

StarStarStarStarStar C17 Cambium Saddle

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Attractive
Great concept

Cons

Hurt to ride, even though I used a B17 prior to the Cambium. I developed a saddle sore (first time ever) and my butt hurt. The 5-6 rides I used the saddle for were not fun.

Other Thoughts

Saddles are very personal. Being a prior Brooks/B17 user I figured this was a no brainer and would work well. Not so. Bummer.

StarStarStarStarStar Good commuter bike saddle.

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

A generally comfortable seat. The cambium version can be used in the rain which is important for a commuter bike.

Cons

The saddle is somewhat heavy and doesn't have a cutout for the perineal area.

Other Thoughts

The seat is a definite improvement over my old saddle for my commuter bike. I put a lot of miles on the bike and I needed a good saddle. I expected it to be a bit softer given other reviews, but it is a fine saddle.

StarStarStarStarStar All weather b-17 alternative

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

All weather construction, feels comfortable right away, color looks neat with modern bike graphics, a saddle to last a lifetime from bike to bike. I use mine on a hardtail Mtn bike and like it there a lot. I get compliments all the time about it.

Cons

Not the same feel as leather, have found it to be not quite as comfortable, but close. The price is a bit high, but with the longevity and weather resistance, will be worth it.

Other Thoughts

This one is worth a try. I would highly recommend for rain and winter use. Mine has heald up well to my large and heavy frame.

StarStarStarStarStar Comes already broken in

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Comes already broken in
Weatherproof
Lightweight
Virtually zero maintenance
Brooks quality

Cons

I love the modern look, but this may turn off the average Brooks saddle shopper.

Other Thoughts

I have about 30 hours in this saddle so far. The zero break in period and maintenance are the real selling points for me. I've had a Brooks Flyer before, and loved it, but the long break in period and riding in the rain were a pain. With the Cambium, you just get it mounted to your preference, and forget about it.

StarStarStarStarStar Sensational comfort

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: high

Sensational comfort on my hardtail Mt bike. Takes out just enough of the bumps, like when you're climbing something rocky and want to stay in the saddle for traction. Great customer service as always from Modern Bike.

StarStarStarStarStar Why settle for anything less!

by
Ownership: a few weeks
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Simply put ...... AWESOME!
It really doesn't get any better, had a friend loan me his to try. I didn't want to give it back... Had to buy myself one.

Cons

No Cons

StarStarStarStarStar the Cambium saddle

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

I have ridden Brooks saddles since I delivered papers at ten years old. More moons ago then I care to admit. This is my second Cambium saddle, and they are fantastic. Brooks saddles have a normal break in period, the Cambium has none. My first Cambium I put on the bike set it up, level, distance from stem, height from center of bottom bracket. Then shoved off to what turned into a fifty mile ride. There was no soreness, no discomfort at all. I'm very happy with this saddle.

Cons

It is a little heavy.

Other Thoughts

If you are not a racer or even if you are this is a saddle that will make riding a bike what it is supposed to be fun, free from discomfort.

StarStarStarStarStar Worth the money

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Comfortable
Looks to be durable

Cons

Expensive

Other Thoughts

Was on the fence of ordering a seat that cost this much but my seat had just broke, so I researched Brooks saddles and saw how everyone loved theirs. I pulled the trigger and got one and I absolutely love it! I would highly recommend one. If you're on the fence like I was, just do it and buy one! You won't regret it.

StarStarStarStarStar If you ride long this saddle is the best yet

by
Ownership: one year
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

Comfort, durability

Cons

weight

Other Thoughts

If you ride long this saddle is the best yet. Well worth the extra weight over light racing saddle. Great right out of the box. Amazing ability to absorb tissue damaging high frequency vibration, especially chip and seal roads.

StarStarStarStarStar Brooks on a Pugsley

by
Ownership: two months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Comfortable from the moment I put it on my Fat Tire Bike.
WaterProof
Very high craftsmanship.

Cons

None

Other Thoughts

My first brooks was full leather with springs but took around 200 miles to break in. This new Brooks was the right choice for off road riding.

StarStarStarStarStar Brooks Cambium

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Comfortable right out of the box.

Cons

Not light at all.

Other Thoughts

I have this saddle on my single speed road bike. If you like the Fizik Kurve saddles you'll like this one.

StarStarStarStarStar Great long ride saddle

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

No break in time like the leather models
Awesome support
Looks hella cool

Cons

Takes getting used to a saddle that's not cushiony

Other Thoughts

This is a great saddle! It's supportive, comfortable and actually absorbs a lot of the bumps along the way. The material seems to be really durable and is naturally water proof.

StarStarStarStarStar Comfortable seat

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: average

All weather and flexible to make long rides comfortable and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for high quality with a reasonable price.

StarStarStarStarStar A fine saddle...

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Keeps my bum happy on long rides; animal-cruelty free.

Cons

The fabric tends to fray a bit on the back edge, but it's minimal and stands up well otherwise.

Other Thoughts

Wish the black version was available when I ordered this.

StarStarStarStarStar Very comfortable

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Comfortable (after several rides). Looks great. Durable, so far.

Cons

Takes time to adjust to, but ultimately worth it.

StarStarStarStarStar Satisfied

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

Just as expected from Brooks product.
Comfortable from day one.
Used since January in Montreal winter without any problem.

Cons

None so far.

StarStarStarStarStar Good rainy weather option

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

looks good
somewhat durable
comes already broken-in

Cons

some soft tissue discomfort
if you wear jeans your saddle will turn blue

Other Thoughts

I have a few of these - two of which are the "carved" version. I would recommend the carved if you have any issues in the perineal area. Still, I mounted the standard version on a city commuter with an upright position and it works just fine. It's turning blue though - if you ride with new jeans be advised there will be some transference of pigment.

StarStarStarStarStar Takes a while to adjust

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Well-made and durable

Cons

Not as comfortable out of the box as expected

Other Thoughts

I started to use the C17 this spring when I switched back from my winter bike to my summer commuter. Maybe because mornings are still cold (often 0 C/32 F in April in Winnipeg), the seat is quite hard/stiff, and not as immediately comfortable as reviews had led me to expect. But I am adjusting.

StarStarStarStarStar Modern classic?

by
Ownership: two months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Comfortable and seemingly light.

Cons

Disappointed to see some flattening sort of wear on the nose of the saddle after not that many miles.

Other Thoughts

The black and gray colors might be a better choice for avoiding a worn appearance. Unless of course you are a fan of patina.

StarStarStarStarStar Modern classic

This saddle is perfect on my Surly Ice Cream Truck. No nonsense and comfortable.

StarStarStarStarStar Rad Saddle

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

great saddle for commuting, long rides, and bike touring!

Other Thoughts

purchased this for my partner and he loves it!

StarStarStarStarStar Instant comfort

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Comfortable right out of the box. Gorgeous build quality and looks.

Cons

It's a bit pricey

Other Thoughts

It is a new product BUT I'm sure it will, like other Brooks saddles, last a life time. I have B-17's on two other bikes so I'm a true believer.

StarStarStarStarStar Great saddle . . . if you don't have a tender butt!

by
Ownership: a few weeks
Tech Knowledge: somewhat low

Pros

Top notch quality, great looks, wide enough for non-racers

Cons

heavy, not cheap, no padding

Other Thoughts

If you don't have a highly sensitive rear-end like I do, this may be the perfect saddle. The shell does have a surprising amount of flex . . . but my butt needs some padding!

StarStarStarStarStar The new saddle

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Once I got the saddle dialed in to me, it has given me no sores and no a break in period. This is not like other Brooks saddles ( I have several) where your butt has to conform to the saddle. The idea that there is no adjustment over time and no more proofride to work in to the leather. I like this saddle.

Cons

No cons on this saddle

Width

Men's saddles tend to have a narrower seat and longer nose than corresponding women's versions.

We categorize usage into three styles - BMX, racing and recreation. Racing saddles tend to be narrower and be more firm than recreation saddles. Recreation saddles are usually a better fit if you plan to ride upright and they may include features like springs.

Saddle color is usually the predominant color of the saddle. But, for predominantly black or white saddles it is usually the color of accents or highlights.
