Amazing, Works perfect
This post has smooth action, stays securely in any position i leave it and simply just works. I've been riding on it a year now without any major issues whatsoever.
Slight stiction when it sits for a week. I don't like the single bolt seat connection.
My husband is very picky and I know nothing about bike parts but apparently I hit this choice out of the park!!
Great dropper for the money!
Cheap, easy install (cable not hydraulic) , infinite adjust, single bolt pivot.
None yet. The remote is cheap plastic.
I can't figure out why dropper posts are so incredibly expensive and unreliable. This one is pretty cheap by comparison so we shall see how it holds up. So far so good. If your frame geometry works well with short travel (and it is pretty short at 100mm) then buy it!
Seems like a bargain
Seems well made.
Simple installation when you find instructions by others online.
Thumb actuator button fits neatly between grip and brake lever.
Poor instructions. But you can find adequate instructions elsewhere online for running cable.
My first dropper post. Didn't want to risk wating big bucks. This product is at the perfect pricepoint, seems like quality construction and is easy to install. Most difficult thing is adjusting final setting on cable clamp. You just need to pull the lever slightly and screw down the cable clamp. If you don't pull the lever down a little first, the thumb actuator won't full engage the lever to drop the post.
Works fine and easy to install. Seat clamp is solid and easy to adjust.
As you would expect for this price this post is a bit heavy. Also it is harder to push down all the way and slower to come up than my other adjustable post.
This post is well worth the price and gives you all the advantages of an adjustable post. Just remember that if you want the best you have to pay a lot more!
KS eTen Seatpost
I had gotten one right away, after a couple of times started to malfunction. I contacted Modern Bike and was able to replace it within a rather quick amount of time! Very good customer service.
KS dropper post
Reliable, price, cable system makes it easy to set up with internal routing. Cheapest dropper post I could find.
Move a little slow when used below freezing. This is expected though, it does always fully drop and extend when used below freezing.
Great product for the price. I don't like doing three hundred dollar experiments. I bought a second one for another bike and have enjoyed them both.
Amazing Performance for the Price
This seatpost dropper performs almost as well as units costing 3 times the price. It's foolproof, since there are no adjustments or service requirements.
It's easy to install, and although the cable routing isn't optimized like on the LEV, it comes with a very effective cable guide that zip-ties onto the seatpost. The 100mm drop isn't large compared to the latest 125-150mm droppers, but it's still very large for this price point.
You can stop the seat at any position between fully extended and fully retracted. Once you let go of the remote, the seat *won't* move, even if you pick up the bike by the seat. There is practically no lateral movement or twisting when the remote is not engaged, and it still feels pretty well planted even when you are lowering the seat.
Non-optimized cable routing means that there is a loose loop of cable when the seat is in the down position. This hasn't caused me any issues, but it looks a little janky.
The included cable stop that you install at the seatpost lever requires a tiny hex wrench and chews up the end of the cable. I replaced it with a motorcycle throttle cable stop which is much more durable and uses a standard-sized hex.
Since the unit is pressurized and sealed at the factory, there isn't any way to customize the spring rate. It's a little heavy for me (I'm below 140 pounds), and I have to lean forward on the seat to get it to drop to the lowest position. The factory-sealed dampers have a reputation of lasting a very long time, but the performance may decrease as dirt and grime find their way past the seals. Since you can't service the unit, it's best to keep it well lubricated and clean.
When the seat hasn't been lowered in a while, it may take a little bounce on the seat to get it to retract. After that, it remains smooth for the rest of the ride. Adding a little bit of fork stantion lubricant to the seatpost from time to time keeps it moving quickly up and down.
I got this dropper when I wasn't 100% sure that I needed a dropper post, so I didn't want to spend the extra cash. I was blown away with the quality and function, this dropper works great and has transformed the way I ride. I can't imagine riding without a dropper now, and I'm planning on upgrading to a 125mm model of Kind Shock dropper in the future.
Reading about the problems that others have with their dropper posts, I think this is actually one of the more reliable models, despite the price. It's not silky-smooth, you can't adjust the speed it raises or lowers, and it doesn't have fancy cable routing. What it does have is everything you need.
A great budget dropper
Drops the seat.
When compared to more expensive droppers, you might find faults in the eTen's drop and return speed or notice a bit of play in the saddle. When riding you will wish you dropped the $130ish to replace your rigid post a long time ago. This is the cheapest/ best improvement you can make to bike with a rigid post.
limited budget? go for it!
does the job
it requires often attention
cable tube tends to get lot of dirt
if you looking for a cheap option go for it! it does the job as supposed to do.
Now I'm riding almost every day. I had to get a better a more expensive one.
-Good intro level dropper.
-Plenty of drop (unless maybe if you're a DH-only rider)
-set up (should include a 1.5mm allen key!)
-instructions are weak
I bought the KS Southpaw underbar mount since I don't have a front derailleur. Adds to the cost but I'm glad I did.
I had to shorten the cable and cable housing to make it fit, so be sure to have these tools available.
Also make sure you have a 1.5mm allen key!). These are tiny and many people don't have one this size.
This is another of those products that fit the "entry level" term but shouldn't; this is a great product. I own 3 of them and have never had an issue with any of them.
A bit heavy but they're 2/3 the cost of others.
Poor lever construction. Otherwise great
This thing is a beast...and so affordable. Been using this dropper for over a year and it still works great with no service (after I replaced the lever...see below). I'm not sure why more people don't buy these posts...for the money it's tough to think of a better upgrade. I actually ride mostly XC but being able to drop the seat out of the way on the downhills or in technical sections is a huge improvement.
No-brainer 5 star rating if the lever hadn't broken.
The instructions claim you can clamp the dropper lever onto ODI grips (it replaces one of the clamps). I don't believe this is the case. The higher end carbon/alu levers will do this but the e-10 lever body is plastic and I snapped mine trying to fit it over an ODI lock-on. Just mount it direct to the bar and you'll have no problems.
I read a few reviews that claim the drop/return rate gets really slow with use. In my experience, just use the barrel adjuster to make sure the cable tension is correct and it will keep working great.
Of course it's heavy but for this price I'd rather have it be heavy and durable.
Modernbike customer service was amazing on this. Found me a replacement lever right away and shipped fast.
Great seat dropper for the price
Works as expected
Easy to install
Heavier than higher end models
Limited range (only available in 100mm)
This is a great entry level seat dropper that works as expected. I haven't had any problems with this item whatsoever and recommend it to anyone new to seat droppers or on a budget.
I am a avid all mountain and downhill rider. Seat post works great, no service required all self contained. Great value to the money. Compares to other more expensive models. I have recommend to several friends of mine who all purchased the same item and also love it.
KS eTen 30.9 Seatpost w/ Remote 385/100mm
Inexpensive option for those looking to add a seat dropper to their mountain bike. I have used it for almost two years and it has performed well and without issue since I installed it.
A little heavier than other, more expensive seat droppers if you're counting ounces on your rig. Shorter travel on the post makes it a better choice for shorter riders. It works great for me at 5' 7", but not sure if it is the best choice for those over 6'.
Killer for the $$$
Compared to the costs of other high zoot posts this is a fantastic post. I liked it so much I've purch another for my other bike.
Lever gets a bit sticky occasionally
I bought this item to see if I liked the idea of using a dropper…love 'em!
