I have used these tires in heavy snow and on roads covered in ice. These tires have performed well in all conditions. Especially like that they have studs on the side walls which make for going around corners safer. I would recommend these tires and were cheaper than my old studded tires.
Get's the job done, but not super cushy
good traction on ice!
needs higher air pressure than I'd like
odd tread pattern doesn't roll that smoothly
I'd say that these tires are fine, but having ridden others that are wider and don't need to be inflated so high and they are MUCH more comfortable to ride on frozen ground/ice.
But again, they do what they say they will do which is provide good traction!
Worth every cent!
Great grip on ice, great grip on snow.
I've been using these tires for about a month in plenty of ice/snow/slush conditions and there hasn't been a time that my track felt unsure. On the ice the studs grab well and on the snow the knobby's sink in for grip. I have also done a limited amount of riding on dry concrete and asphalt pavement with no trouble.
After only a month, I haven't noted any cons to the tires. Though initially I though they were a bit pricey, after using them I think the price point is fair.
I would recommend these tires to anyone looking for a good snow tire for their mountain bike.
Loved these tires on icey gravel and dirt roads. Confidence.
Not good in powder, but they aren't supposed to be!
Gave me confidence to ride on ice
Excellent build quality. Rides on the tires included ice, snow, dirt, mud, and pavement. All the studs have remained in place.
Gave me confidence to ride on ice even on descents, though still carefully!
Heavy compared to other 29er tires, but to be expected with the studs, so I do not mark the tire down for this.
Though the instructions with the tires recommend that you ride on pavement first to bed the studs in, I didn't and all the studs have remained intact.
Great to have on those icy rides on smoother terrain.
Work great for a production snow/ice tire..
fairly light for having stud's.
less stud count vs 26" model
This tire though great on relatively flat ice.. It don't have as much stud density of the 26" model.. It is pretty narrow..
These work great on iced over packed snowmobile trails and any trail that is packed with some ice on it.. You can find a sweet spot and just ride on..
Down side is the studs are centrally located (no side knobs) and for the 29er size they didn't' increase the stud count.. they just spread out the knobs more..
These are tires for a 2 wheeled bike and if you know how a bike works you quickly realize with only 2 points of contact with the ground the front or rear tire will have a tendency to follow a trough.. so if you end up in a snowmobile ski track going around an ice corner more than likely you will have to stay in it or face dumping as the tires won't want to come out of it at speed.
Be sure and get replacement studs since you will be losing some in use..
Quick Delivery / Item Exactly As Described
Awesome on ice or hard packed roads. Can even ride on lake.
Not good in loose or deeper snow as it wants to dig.
Overall a good tire for road riding. Ice is no problem, even on hills and braking Just don't hammer to hard on sharp turns.also good on trails for frozen ground with little or no snow.
