Rear Fatbike fender
Good design, great for muddy conditions. Recommended to several other Fatbike owners. Easy to remove when not needed.
Easy on and off, blocks lots of mud.
Dave's mud shovel front
easy on and off.
Used it winter and spring riding on farley. works great mud and snow.
My back is clean and dry!
A simple but very effective design. Extremely lightweight. I have ridden my fatty all winter in many different conditions, most of them nasty. The fender has worked flawlessly. My back has been clean and dry.
Covers tire. Take off & on easily. Holds set position very well. Very light. Priced right. Eye catching.
Put on fatire bike so gets cold weather use. Don't know temp but gripped to adj and cracked & broke full length. At price promptly ordered another being more carefully with this time.
Dave's Mud Shovel Fat Fender:Rear
It works great!
Dave's Mud Shovel Fat Fender:Front
It works great!
Keeps your butt dry and your back clean
Simple, rugged, easy to take on and off, reasonably light, practically indestructible. Keeps mud and stuff from getting flung onto your back. Helps keep mud from getting into the face of someone behind you.
Doesn't keep mud from getting flung forward onto your seat tube and bottom bracket. More complicated and heavier than the Mud shovel front fender. * Those are reasonable trade-offs in my mind, since you need a more complicated and heavy wrap around fender to do those things.
I have both the front and read mud shovels and think they're great. I love the simplicity and ruggedness. They don't keep everything clean, but they help a lot and they're really easy to attach and remove.
Pretty good, can't think of a way to improve
Keeps mud off the main part of the front of the bike (not the chainrings or bottom bracket), Very durable, reasonably light.
Doesn't keep mud off the bottom bracket or chainrings - understandable because it has to be narrow at the bottom to make room for your feet. Can't completely keep mud that flies high at speed from getting back to you (your face area). I'm OK with all that because it greatly reduces this.
It's wide, so will slow you in a headwind or high speed ride (not really a concern on my Fat bike).
This seems like the best solution for the front if you don't want a tire hugging fender that's mounted to the fork. It's really simple, can be snapped off if you don't want to use it, and easily adapts to many bikes.
A few kinks to work out
Rotates on Seat Post- cannot get strap pulled tight enough to keep it from rotating
DO NOT LEAVE IT ATTACHED IF YOU DRIVE WITH BIKE ON CAR RACK- WIND WILL UNSNAP THE FENDER
2 piece design?
Definitely keeps the muck off, when it stays in place.
Best fattie fender out there
Somewhat fragile and easily comes unsnapped
I've had this fender a couple of weeks and ridden in the mud several times with it. It has been great in keeping the muck off my backside. If you have a fat bike, I highly recommend this fender!
Getting the bracket tight enough around the seatpost can be a challenge. If you don't get it just right, the fender will swing around and not cover the tire. It also appears to be a bit delicate and probably won't stand up to a lot of abuse.
