StarStarStarStarStar Emergency Use Only

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

Cheaply price, and they can you get you back to your vehicle.

Cons

They are heavy'ish

Other Thoughts

I run a tubeless setup on all my rides, so essentially, I carry tubes for emergency use only. They work when you need them to.

StarStarStarStarStar qtube/kenda tube for Fatty tires

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Superlight compared to regular fat tire tubes.
These came with removable presta valve cores so one could squirt some stans (or favorite sealant) inside.
Reasonable price.

Cons

pinch flats easily

Other Thoughts

Comes in a qtube box but tube is branded Kenda.
Why dont they advertise them as having a removable core? Perhaps because not all come this way?

Got these for my fat bike. Saves about a pound per wheel compared to my original tubes. So far no problems, no flats.

StarStarStarStarStar Will theses work in a fat bike?

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

very light weight for fat bike application

Cons

They have held up very well in my bike over several months of weekly use. In my son's bike however, two have split along the seam. I don't blame the tube, as I'm sure they weren't designed for a fat bike tire. I really need to bite the bullet and go tubeless.

StarStarStarStarStar Work great for 4.5 fat bike tires

Cons

Need air fairly often. Go figure as they are blown up to 4.5 fat tires.

Other Thoughts

StarStarStarStarStar A Two Niner Must Have

by
Ownership: more than a year
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

I have 3 hardtail 29ers, and only use Q-tubes Superlights to keep the rotational weight down. Yeah I know, get tubeless...but I'm not there yet. I've been using these superlights mostly offroad with lower pressures(25-27lbs) and with WTB tires(I weigh 165). They last me approx 2 years before needing to be replaced. Winter offroad snow rides usually require less pressure for stability/traction, have been down to 21lbs, so they do get worked over. I always have a spare in my seat bag to swap out for flats and deal with the patching when I get home.

Cons

No Cons

Other Thoughts

Tubeless may be better, but you still have to pack a tube or emergencies. Less space required packing these.
