StarStarStarStarStar great snow tires

by
Ownership: a month

can climb hills I couldn't get up with my other fat tires

StarStarStarStarStar Good overall tire for offroad

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

120 TPI allows the tire to be more flexible in rocky terrain. The aggressive tread is good for grabbing into loose dirt/rocks.

Cons

I would like to see some kind of tread near the middle to help with horizontal forces for sandy situations. That would help when used on the front tire.

StarStarStarStarStar Great tire

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

I had the Nates which were 29tpi and I bought these because I want the same tire but less weight. I was not disappointed! I love these tires! Lightweight and great traction!!

Cons

Of course the cost is high but all fatbike tires are high.

StarStarStarStarStar Great tire so far!

by
Ownership: less than a week
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Much better grip than my husker du's.
Only have about 10miles on the Nate so far, so i can't comment to much other than its a substantial improvement in snow over my husker du's.
Tire went on my rolling darryls setup tubless on the first try, no headaches, held air with no issues.

Cons

None

StarStarStarStarStar Fat tire of choice in Winter!

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: high

Pros

Good grip, tread designed to self clean, great traction on ice, price is reasonable.

Cons

none

Other Thoughts

If you are not going to use studded tires, these are the best I have found to give you the confidence to ride in slippery (icy) conditions.

StarStarStarStarStar Nate Rocks

Pros

This is Lou's little brother. It is the best choice of tire if you cant fit a 5" Lou tire on your rig.

Cons

None

StarStarStarStarStar Surly Nate

by
Ownership: two months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Good tire for snow
Pretty good on ice snow mix

Cons

I would choose other options for sand

Other Thoughts

I have about 350 miles on the surly Nates so far this winter. They are great when you need traction in the snow. Just did a 30 k race where we had some snow and lots of icy patches and corners. Before the race I was wishing I had a set of studded Dillinger's but after following several riders who had them I noticed they had just as much trouble on the ice as I did. Center studs would have helped them but my point is Nates held their own even in sub par conditions. I like that I can ride on the trails or hop on the tar if I need to without worrying about wearing down a studded tire. I will switch to a less knobby tire for summer though. These throw dirt and sand pretty good.

StarStarStarStarStar amazing grip

Pros

grip, grip and grip

Cons

slow rolling

Other Thoughts

for new england riding I think its the best 3.8" tire available, I run it tubeless with no problems
