StarStarStarStarStar Burly Surly rack

Ownership: a few weeks
Tech Knowledge: high

Built like a tank! Very sturdy and very easy installation.

None in my book.

StarStarStarStarStar Heavy man!!

Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Heavy duty construction, directions and installation were a snap. There is suitable clearance on all sides of the Surly Knard 29 x 3.0" tires. There is no interference with the brake hub or gears.
Haven't found my perfect panniers yet but it looks like this rack will stand up to the weight.

Front mounting rods could be a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer to increase the clearance on the rear wheel and level the rack. In my installation the rack is tilted forward a bit and tucks under the springs of the Brooks touring seat.

Other Thoughts

Installed on a Surly ECR 29er+. The bike has a couple mounting options, I chose the one over the center of the hub. There are some fine tuning adjustments to be made. I intend to use the bike for touring & bikepacking.
Not a concern for me but comparatively speaking this is a heavy rack, certainly not minimalist.
