The leather surface features a restyling of a piece by Frank Patterson, artist and illustrator of the Brooks catalogues of the 1920's, realized by Richard Phipps.

Was pretty comfortable from the start, but after some minor adjustments and a couple hundred miles on it, my butt thanks me. Also Modern Bike had the lowest price I could find for this saddle.

Pros
So far so good. Easy assembly. With first ride I found it relatively comfortable. The Imperial cut-out offers ventilation and perineal relief which my grooved gel saddle provided minimally. Proofide and rain cover = 5 stars. Lifetime quality product. ModernBike's sale price much appreciated.
Cons
Break-in is taking longer than expected, even with minimal horizontal tension. Stiffness, of 2 coil springs, seems to offer little cushion. Apparently earlier model used lighter guage steel wire in springs with sufficient enough risk of breakage to warrant beefing them up. I'd appreciate any help in up-grading to a lighter spring, if available.
Other Thoughts
Black leather saddle stains light shorts.

Great Quality.
A lot more comfortable than my original seat that came with my bike
Looks and feels great!
Cons
Nice saddle = Nice target.
I purchased a seat leash to protect my investment.
Does require more maintenance than a modern saddle but, so do all leather goods.
Other Thoughts
Can't wait to try it out on a long ride!
