Perfect for My Uses
by Jaime C. of Peoria, IL on September 6, 2021
Product:
Cateye CC-PA110W Padrone+ Wireless Computer Black
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high
Pros
Night Light!! Seriously, this is just basically a Padrone, but with a backlit screen for night use. But, that's EXACTLY what I was after, so this worked out perfectly for me.
Cons
None, yet. I thought I'd have problems with the sensors, but thus far, no issues whatsoever.
Other Thoughts
Great unit for basic information, or intermediate level riders. If you're not a pro rider, you really don't need to spend $500 on a computer. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase, and very much enjoying the product.
Does the job well

Product:
Cateye CC-PA110W Padrone+ Wireless Computer Black
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high
Pros
Fairly easy to set up and easy to read. I haven't tried to use it in the dark.
I've been gauging it against an old Garmin GPS (the real time display, not the recorded track). I had a Cateye with more features that failed early this year. It could be used on two bikes or wheel, having two separate trip displays. On a single bike, that's handy to capture the distance between two points on one display and the total trip distance on the other. The Padrone+ lacks that function, but I haven't really missed it.
The sender and the computer use the same kind of common CR2032 batteries.
Cons
My only complaint is that it's too easy to erase the trip data by pressing down on the unit when lifting the bike, removing the unit from the bar holder, doing something else that temporarily presses down on the unit. Holding down for 2 seconds resets the trip data. I wish it required 5 seconds or more.
Other Thoughts
GPS uses discrete points to record travel. It often "shortcuts" a turn with a diagonal between a point just before and a point just after the turn. Consequently, I adjust the Padrone+ to slightly exceed the GPS mileage. There are other things that influence GPS mileage, so I use a running average. The best comparison is a single straight and level path, one way.

Some cycling computers can display a power reading, usually in watts. They usually require a separate sensor - in some cases a special hub or crank arm. A few will estimate the value based on speed, cadence, rider weight or other data. "Optional" means it can read from a separate power meter or sensor. "Included" means it is calculated by the computer or includes the neccessary sensor.
