Duties

  • answer telephone calls
  • greet showroom shoppers
  • respond to customer email
  • other data entry and product catalog maintenance duties and responsibilities as assigned such as editing product information and screening customer product reviews
  • other showroom and stockroom duties and responsibilities as assigned such as receiving, stocking, picking, and shipping merchandise

Education

high school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

warehouse, retail showroom, telephone service, mail-order catalog, or bicycle maintenance related experience preferred

Hobbies / Interests

cycling enthusiasm and mechanical or industry knowledge strongly desired

Skills

  • professional verbal and written communication
  • general computer proficiency
  • basic math skills

Physical / Mental Demands

  • sitting and using a computer for long periods of time
  • requires minimum lifting ability of 50 pounds; may require heavy lifting of 50+ pounds with assistance
  • accurately remembering part numbers, product locations, and prices while helping customers

Description

Modern Bike is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to fill a customer service position. This job involves in-person, telephone, and written sales and support communication to walk-in showroom shoppers, call-in mail order shoppers, and customers who write-in emailed questions.

  • troubleshoot problems to resolve inquiries, issues, and complaints
  • interact with customers of all levels and abilities
  • anticipate customer needs and empathize with customers
  • know and understand all types of bicycles, components, and accessories
  • collect and edit product information on the computer
  • communicate precisely, accurately, and use correct grammar
  • make sound, timely, customer-oriented decisions
  • be prompt, courteous, and helpful
  • thoroughly and accurately handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
  • balance quality and productivity
  • maintain a solid attendance record
