Protects the frame

Pros
I ride a Niner rip 9 RDO and I was smashing the bottom pivot of my frame all the time. That's okay on this bike because that piece is aluminum, but I would rather bash something that I can replace more easily and cheaply than ordering a special part from Niner. That bottom pivot hangs down so far I wasn't sure that installing this MRP bash guard would actually do anything, but it does. Also put one on my wife's Evil Following, which was the more concerning one since all its low frame parts are carbon except for the chainring.
Cons
Increases bike weight a little. Only for frames with built in mount holes.
