I went to true and balance the wheel after I bought it, and was pleasantly surprised to find the spoke tension was pretty well balanced already. The wheel required some minor truing and balancing, but overall better than I expected. I'm far from a professional wheel builder, though, and I'm sure the wheel would benefit more from someone with more experience taking a look at it.
The bearings were also smooth out of the package; I had expected to need to re-pack and re-set them, but that didn't prove necessary.
Other Thoughts
This was for a friend's bike, and the wheel hasn't seen too many miles or any harsh riding, yet, so this is far from a long-term review. However, I am pleased with my initial impressions.
