Reelight Battery-Free Lights with Power Back Up

Pros

Blinking "see me!" Lights front and back that never require a thought after installation. Never. They turn on when you start to move, turn off a few minutes after you stop, have no battery to run down, charge or change. You never have to think about whether you need lights on. Two magnets on the wheel generate electricity as they move past the light (and its coil of wire) generating electricity without friction. This model has a capacitor to keep the lights on when you stop to obey traffic signals. I will never own a bike without Reelights installed!

Cons

It takes a little fussing to get the distance between the light and the magnets right. Too close, and they rub. Too far, and you don't generate enough power. For night riding, you will also want a road illuminating light. They go on the axels, so make sure you buy the right one for your bike (this model is too short for disk brakes).

Other Thoughts

Reelights seems to strike a good balance on quality, weight, and robustness. Its amazing how little you notice these guys once they are in- maybe a little push-pull as the magnets slide by when coasting at low speed. Put em on you road bike, your kids bikes, your grandpas bike, and stop worrying about whether drivers can see you.
