StarStarStarStarStar Ride all winter long with Bar Mitts

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

This mitts keep your hands warm easily in the low teen temps I have been riding in. I rode in cold weather with my winter gloves just under 30 degrees and after 45 mins I couldn't deal with the pain from cold fingers. I had seen someone with these mitts and reached out to them. I went online and ordered them.
What a difference. I can ride with hands outside, when they get cold, I slide them inside the Bar Mitts and they warm right back up. I have big hands so I have the large mitts. I can were my full finger gloves inside. They are a little snug but I can easily work the brakes and shifters. There is more room with my summer riding gloves. I highly recommend them if you want to ride all winter long.

Cons

None

Other Thoughts

Awesome Product, easy on and off.

Easy to take on and off. Not having to wear thick gloves that get damp inside

Cons

None at all

StarStarStarStarStar Ideal bar mitts

by
Ownership: more than a year
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Best bar mitts I've tried. Still doing the job after 5 winters. Easy to insert and remove gloved hands. Keep the wind off your hands.

Cons

Be careful in strong cross-winds as they hold a lot of wind.

Warm. Kept me riding in the winter.

StarStarStarStarStar Bar Mitts Are a Lifesaver

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Warm. Keep my hands dry except in the worst prolonged rain. Easy to get in and out of for signaling. I buy large even though my hands are average. Easy to install. The ones with zips not only work with exterior cables, but also allow me to "vent" them if the weather warms up.

Cons

None other than prolonged rain will penetrate them.

StarStarStarStarStar Must have for winter cycling

by
Ownership: several months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Kept my hands toasty warm, even down to about -20C (with a pair of mitts on underneath). Kept the wind out, too.

Cons

Careful of the wind! These things are like sails if you get caught in a crosswind.

Other Thoughts

Highly recommended for winter (or even shoulder season) cycling!

StarStarStarStarStar Hand warmer

by
Ownership: a few months
Tech Knowledge: somewhat high

Pros

Keeps hands warmer

Cons

Not so warm that I don't wear heavy gloves

Other Thoughts

Runs a little small

StarStarStarStarStar Great and warm

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Super warm, I can ride in temps well below freezing with just some typical biking cool weather gloves. They go on easy and come off easy, too, so when the temps jump up on random winter days you can just take em off in 30 seconds or less.

Cons

They look kinda dumb? They catch some air on cross breeze so careful if you ride around without hands a lot.

StarStarStarStarStar A must have for winter riders

by
Ownership: a month
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

Block the wind really well, keep your hands warm even when it's really cold out

Cons

Can be a little cumbersome to take off and on when commuting

StarStarStarStarStar Ride all year.

by
Ownership: more than a year
Tech Knowledge: average

Pros

I have never had cold hands with Bar Mitts, even with temperatures down to zero F. and windy conditions. After my first winter with Bar Mitts, I bought a set for my commuter bike. They are the best investment I have ever made in winter rinding gear.

Cons

It will take some experience to get your hands quickly and easily back in your Bar Mitts when riding. I get a bit of fatigue in my hands from keeping them in the same position in the mitts, but even after having a hand out of the mitt for a while, it works well with having a warm spot to retreat from the cold.

Bar Mitts

"Bar Mitts evolved from many years of hang gliding and cold winter bicycle rides. During the cold months, I used my hang gliding mitts on top of my bicycle handle bars. Hang gliding mitts are used on a straight steering control bar. As one can imagine, not being on the shifter and brake levers had its downfalls especially when it came to descents and emergency braking. I designed various Bar Mitts prototypes that enclosed the shifter and brake levers. I am so pleased that the final product is now available for sale. We hope you enjoy Bar Mitts and many warm rides."
