site after the purchase.
Living in Massachusetts, and riding year round can
be difficult at best. This battery has proven to be a great
investment.

I ordered 2 of the batteries. One would not hold a charge for any length of time. I have to say NiteRider customer support was great. They had me try several things and ended up just warrantying the batter had a new one in a couple of days. Just annoying having to wait. I feel there should be better quality assurance at the factory.

Pros

The original battery for my old Niterider Pro Series Race 700 light failed. Rather than purchase an entirely new lighting system I found the Niterider 1800 Pro Serise Race 4-cell battery at Modern Bike for $126; $23 less than other retailers. This battery has slightly better mAh rating than the original battery so the run time should incrementally improve. The battery connected to the old light perfectly. I have used the battery twice with no issues. I purchased the light at the same time the Mid-west was hit by severe storms. Modern Bike was very good at keeping me informed of anticipated delivery dates although they were forced to workaround delivery disruptions caused by the storms.

niterider makes great products. however, i received a defective battery.

ModernBike has a policy of not accepting battery returns. BUT any normal person would assume that would not apply if a customer was delivered a DEFECTIVE battery.

When I wanted a to exchange for a working battery, I was denied and referred to the manufacturer.

DO NOT BUY batteries from ModernBike unless you want to deal with the manufacturer in the case of defect.

For defect claims on replacement batteries, we do ask customers to work with NiteRider directly for warranty. Defects are not always straightforward and NiteRider is equipped to determine if something else in the system is causing a failure.

4-cell battery is great for night training rides.

Pain to remove for charging.... ideal to keep your charger where you park your bike so removal is unnecessary.

all these niterider batterys lose 75% of their capacity after a bit over a years time from new. this will be the last night rider product i buy. owned 2 previous models and several batteries for each over the years and all had major battery issues. until they start sourcing better cells and electronics in the cells im done here. other companies are coming out with 800 and 1200 lumen lights that use 1 or 2 single, cheap and readily available to the consumer, rechargeable cells in place of these expensive and disposable battery packs that dont last.
i bought a $70 dollar light thats 800 lumen and runs for over 2 hours on one single rechargable cell. and its dirt cheap to carry a few spares for a longer ride. this is the future nite rider. goodbye proprietary $$$$$$ cells

after contacting niter rider several times over the years i was never offered any kind of real help. i regret buying this pack. i should have just tossed the light and started fresh. oh yeah, it is super bright on 1800 lumen, but it only lasts about an hour with this new battery (mfg claims 1:30 on high) it also dims significantly a few seconds after you switch it to high so im doubting the claimed 1800. thats fine as 1800 is really more than needed. id say 1100 or 1200 is plenty out in the woods at night or on the road
