Reviews of Paul Components Touring Front or Rear Cantilever Brake Black
Paul and Modern Bike
Very good product from Paul’s Components (cantilever brakes) and fast delivery at a fair price from Modern Bike.
Paul Touring Cantilever Brakes
Pros
Are they expensive? Yes. Do they offer an awesome amount of stopping power and great looks? Yes! These are so snappy and strong. Worth the price.
Cons
nah
Buy these brakes
Pros
These stop me from getting hit by cars or flying off the trail. High power. Front and back, don’t feather it.
Cons
None. Don’t you wanna be safe and look cool at the same time?
Other Thoughts
These are built to last and I’m sure I’ll transfer them to future builds.
Best brakes made by man
Pros
USA made. Simple. Bombproof. If you try these, unless you are on a heavily laden tourer or maybe MTB, no need for discs.
Cons
None. Initial price is scary but once you see them and feel how they work it is a bargain.
Quality never goes out of style
Pros
Simple installation combined with all needed installation materials. Great price through modern bike.
Other Thoughts
Quick shipping
Oh my SQUEEL!
Pros
Super easy to install - way less complicated than most cantilever brakes. Adjustment is as easy as loosening, twisting, and re-tightening. Despite some squeeling (which is normal on canti's) these things stop like a BOSS and won't embarrass.
Cons
None
Huge stopping power super easy to setup
Pros
Powerful canti brakes.
Very easy to install and setup
Very lightweight
Sexy

I brake for Paul's Brakes
Pros
Great build, super quality. Definitely fits the "jewelry" for you bike category. Amazing stopping power..*** see below
Cons
Amazing stopping power. There is so much leverage I had to adjust down the grip so I didn't get lock up or chatter when applying the brake.
MUSA brakes
Pros
Great stopping power, look great made in the U S
Cons
None
Other Thoughts
Somewhat expensive but worth it
I should have bought these first
Pros
They work great and stay adjusted! They work with Campy Super Record brake levers.
Other Thoughts
I originally bought a different set of brakes for my Waterford touring bike. They would never stay centered and I was always fiddling with them. The Paul brakes work great with road levers and they stay where they're supposed to stay, centered!
easiest to adjust
Pros
durable, good-looking, so simple to install and adjust
Other Thoughts
Installing these brakes is a snap, and adjusting them is so easy, it's not fair. The brakes have an internal spring, that you adjust externally with a 15mm wrench. You set them up and the last thing you do is tension the springs. Also gotta plug for Paul Moons - they're nicer to brake cables than normal straddle cable hokes, and they also simplify brake cable adjustment.
Excellent build quality
Pros
Excellent build quality. Good, traditional design. Quite easy to set up and adjust, with simple tools and only basic knowledge of bicycle mechanics.
Cons
The Kool-stop salmon pads are not the best for all rim surfaces. I have two bikes with the Paul touring cantilever brakes, and salmon pads. The pads work fine on one bike (with Mavic Open Pro rims), but the pads are not optimum on the other bike (with Fulcrum racing 5's).
