Thomson Seatpost Collar
The fit, finish and look of this seatpost collar on my bike is really nice.
It looks great with my Thomson seatpost and stem. It`s hard to beat Thomson quality products.
Jury is still out on this.
Pros
Light and sleek looking.
Cons
If I had researched this clamp further before pulling the trigger on it I likely would not have bought it.
They use an undersized bolt (3mm) with fairly low clamping force (2.8nm) to achieve results. I have had to tighten more than that to keep post from slipping. Frame is prepped, good quality seat post etc...and no excessive grease, yet still requires more than recommended torque. Small bolt, bigger torque, potentially no good. I just switched to a different seat post with a textured anodized surface and trying again before throwing in the towel on this seat clamp.
Other Thoughts
Sometimes basic tried and true engineering ( it is just a seatpost clamp after all) is the best way to go.
Great during the warranty period
Pros
Seatpost didn't move.
I like the barrel nut design that won't strip the threads if you would overtighten the locking bolt.
Fast delivery from Modern Bike
Cons
Thomson has a three year warranty. I installed the clamp almost five years ago, and I noticed a crack in the clamp during my last ride. I only ride during the summer months though, so it is really like 2-1/2 years of actual riding time.
Other Thoughts
For the price charged, Thomson should give a lifetime warranty.

Thompson quality is the real deal.
