Other Thoughts
This is my attempt at tweeking my bikes for the most comfortable position. In this case using a 0 degree set back seat post to feel less stretched on the bike as I've had some neck discomfort in the past. I've put this type of seat post on all 3 of my bikes which are all road bikes with drop handlebars. The 31.6 mm went on the Motobecane and I don't use this one for commuting just every third weekend ride which is over 70 miles. I've done one of these rides on this bike so far and did not have any issues. How much more comfortable is it to be 1" closer to the handlebars it's hard to say because I'm always shifting back and forth in the seat anyway so there is no constant. Generally with me when I'm riding along with the wind at my back nothing hurts then when I'm fighting a head wind for miles and miles things start to hurt... go figure. I installed the 25.4 mm on the 75 Royce Union and a 27mm on my 03 Trek. All and all and with other adjustments I've made I'm more comfortable now than I've been in the past especially on the Trek. One note possibly because these posts have a smooth finish. The one I installed on the Royce Union which has a seat post clamp that is part of the frame the seat post will rotate about .25" during normal riding which is not a big deal so long as it does not slip down which it hasn't so far. Set up is a personnel thing and a 0 degree set back seat post is something you can try it you feel a little stretched out on your bike
Thomson Elite Seatpost
Pros
This is the third Thomson post I have owned over the past two decades . It replaces a 30-year old post (different brand) on my old Litespeed Unicoi mountain bike. I love the workmanship, reliability and aesthetics of this post. I am confident it will outlast the bike and me too! Worth the cost.
Cons
No problems and don't expect any!
Never thought this could be a problem
Pros
Quality American made item
Cons
The post is made of such hard, stiff material getting my seat post binder to hold it in place without slipping is a loosing battle. I have a high-quality Salsa binder, I choose to use an adjustable binder, rather than a fixed one, maybe that could solve the issue. Additionally, you really feel the stiffness in your bottom.
