"WTB was founded in Marin County, California in 1982, fueled by the need to create durable and reliable mountain bike-specific equipment. Back then mountain biking was a new and burgeoning sport, and mountain bikes weren't much more than cobbled-together oddities. The original WTB crew was captivated by the experience of riding bikes on dirt trails, and they started creating more durable and functional components for their own bikes. Soon, local frame builders sought to outfit their bikes with WTB's high-end components. WTB was able to turn our passion for bikes into a successful business."
It's true. Our goal has never been to be the lightest. If it was, we would be. Plain and simple. We've been making wheels for the bicycle industry longer than most and we've seen technologies come and go.
However, there are a few timeless qualities that we have stuck to: 1. Durability is king. Regardless of crazy material cocktails or ingenious construction methods--if it leaves you walking off the trail, all the so-called technology is pointless. 2. Make it easy. Our tubeless set-ups are a breeze and considered industry best. 3. Make it perform. Whether it's race day or an afternoon shred, we want riders to be confident that their hoops are capable. 4. Go back to number one. Durable, lightweight, easy to set up with performance that rivals everything out there.
