Pros
The Surly MDS "chips" bolt right in to the dropouts using chainring bolts. They go in easily and allow you to change the spec of the frame super easily. I installed the vertical ones for my 11 spd setup and the derailleur hanger is nice and stiff so it shifts well. To note, the vertical ones are aluminum whereas the single speed ones are steel.
