Tacx Trainer Overview

Tacx offers a variety of bicycle trainers. They range from their top-of-the line i-Genius Multiplayer trainer, to their basic Satori trainer for warm-ups and light exercise. This guide will help you understand the basic differences between their models.

Tacx Software

The Tacx software is very powerful. With the appropriate trainer and connections, it has a very rich interactive interface. You can ride along famous courses, follow paths you know on Google Maps or even race others over the internet. Not all versions of the software are created equally, and you'll want to make sure you get the version and licenses you need.

Currently, Tacx has two versions of software. One is called TTS 4 Advanced, and the other is TTS 4 Basic. The versions are similar, but the Advanced version has a few extra features.

TTS 4 Advanced

  • Allows for catalyst training with a 3rd party heart rate strap
  • Has six virtual reality areas to explore
  • Allows video playback without cycling
  • Allows imports and exports of scores
  • Allows riding against opponents

  • TTS 4 Basic

  • Allows for catalyst training only with slope and watt information (no heart rate)
  • Has only two virtual reality terrains to explore

  • Both versions are compatible with optionally purchased Real Life Videos.

GPS racing, Google Functions and Multiplayer internet racing require optional licenses, purchased direct from Tacx. The iGenius Mutliplayer trainer will include an initial license for the multiplayer.

Please check the computer specifications before purchasing. If your computer doesn't meet the specifications, the software may not function.
