Pros
Steel is the best for a bicycle rack and Tubus Cosmo meets the need for a lightweight, really strong, bicycle rack. I love the metal finish, too.
Black is so yesteryear. Aluminum is lightweight, but a risk to use. Tubus steel is great, and easy to install on my Jamis Aurora tourer (which is also steel).
Cons
No cons for me.
Other Thoughts
The trend toward aluminum racks is, in part, may be because it is easier to form, cheaper, lighter. Tubus Cosmo steel is indisputably strong and attractive. Looks damn good on my Jamis, and holds stuff, too.

Pros
sturdy, easy to mount, great price, had mount for new taillight and no fear of damage to finish when attaching bags or baskets.
Cons
My frame did not have fittings up on the seat stays so I used R clips.
